About Us

Optimistically simple – and simply optimistic! That’s the Clark retirement philosophy. We are inspired by the growing body of research on mature adults and the positive findings that have been identified.

  • In a 20-year longitudinal study of 660 participants, Yale University researchers found that older adults with more positive self-perceptions of aging lived 7.5 years longer than those with less positive self-perceptions of aging.

  • A University of Michigan study found that older people who are helpful to relatives, neighbors or friends delay their risk of dying by nearly 60% over peers who don't provide practical help or emotional support to others.

  • Tufts University researchers demonstrated that with 12 weeks of strength training in men 60-72 years of age muscle strength doubled to tripled, and muscle mass increased 10 to 15 %. In an 8 week study of women 87 to 96 years living in a nursing home, muscle mass was tripled and muscle mass increased by 10%.

  • A Harvard University study concluded that negative stereotypes of aging worsen people’s memory and self-confidence while positive stereotypes improve them.
